Legion to have annual Poppy Drive

ANDERSON — The George Hockett American Legion Auxiliary 127 will hold its annual Poppy Drive from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday in front of Walmart.

The drive is coordinated by volunteers of the Legion and Auxiliary. Proceeds are used to give aid and comfort to veterans.

Volunteers are needed.

'Sunday on the Back Porch' planned

PENDLETON — “Sunday on the Back Porch” is set for 11 a.m. Sunday at Pendleton Historical Museum in Falls Park.

Activities will include a car cruise-in at 11 a.m. and a style show at 2 p.m. with ladies fashions from Ella June’s Boutique in Greenfield. K-Burgers by the Pendleton Kiwanis will also be sold.

Proceeds go to the log cabin project.

Legion to serve pork chops Friday

MIDDLETOWN — Middletown American Legion Post 216 will serve grilled or broasted “thick cut” marinated pork chop and two sides from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday or until sold out. Broasted fish will also be served.

Post 216 is a non-smoking Legion, 450 N. 10th St.

Cost is $10.

Cemetery Board to offer assistance

MECHANICSBURG — The Mechanicsburg Cemetery Board will have tents set up Memorial Day weekend (May 24-25) beginning at 10 a.m.

The board will have records available to answer questions and to show spaces or help find a loved one. They will be working in the pioneer section of the cemetery and are asking the community for their help in locating records of deeds, burial permits or any history on this section.

The cemetery does not have records of the section in the northeast corner of cemetery.
