MARKLEVILLE — The Markleville East Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) will be celebrating the 100th anniversary at its current location at 124 E. Main St. at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19.

The public is invited to attend, with the morning service at 10:30 and a salad lunch following worship. Roots & Branches of Middletown Christian Church will provide entertainment beginning at 1 p.m. with a Celebration Service at 2 p.m. The Rev. Carolyn Reed, associate regional minister with the Indiana Region of the Disciples, will participate in the day's activities.

The congregation, in anticipation of the anniversary date, has participated in "Countdown Sundays" beginning on Aug. 31, which has included a new pictorial directory, a Youth Sunday, and services honoring the community's first responders, prior pastors, and remembering those who have passed and were part of the life of the congregation over the past 100 years.

All are welcome to be a part of upcoming "Countdown Sundays" as well as the Celebration Sunday on Oct. 19. Come greet old friends from years past and meet new neighbors to share the future memories at East Christian Church.
