VFW to serve chicken noodles dinner

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 266, 3210 Columbus Ave., will have an all-you-can-eat chicken noodles dinner from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 31.

Cost is $7.50 for chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, roll and dessert.

The dinner is being sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary.



Smiths to host Irish Reunion

An Irish Reunion will be held to honor Pendleton High School’s varsity teams 1961 through 1969 on Saturday, June 28.

Mike and Linda Smith will host the reunion at their new party barn located at 7137 W. 675S, Pendleton. Everyone is welcome to come — varsity players, non varsity players, managers, cheerleaders, cheerblocks, mascots, sponsors, teachers and fans.

A cook-out lunch will be provided from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. RSVP to (765) 778-3459 if you plan to come for lunch. Donations will be accepted to cover the cost; others may attend between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Bring pictures, articles, etc. — yearbooks and scrapbooks will be displayed covering all nine years.

Local people are encouraged to notify the people from out of town. Coach Carl Floyd and available assistant coaches plan to be in attendance, organizers said in a press release.



Fish, chicken fry to boost fireworks fund

The Summitville Fire Department will host a Dan’s all-you-can-eat fish and chicken fry from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, at the Summitville Elementary School.

The menu will include hand-breaded fish and chicken strips, baked beans, cole slaw or applesauce, and bread. Dessert and drink are also included in the ticket price. Carryouts will be available..

Tickets are $8.50 for adults and $5 for children, ages 5 to 13. Children ages 4 and under can eat for free.

Proceeds will benefit the fire department’s annual Fourth of July fireworks celebration. The firefighters annually must raise approximately $7,000 for the fireworks fund to keep the half-century-old tradition going, organizers said in a press release.
