The Anderson Sertoma Club will hold the 14th Anderson Mayor’s Cup Grand Prix Kart races on Saturday and Sunday.

The track is a new track configuration this year, and the kart racers will be coming from several states to compete. Insteaed of downtown, this year’s race will be in the old parking area of the former Delco Remy engineering building (Plant 18) on Scatterfield Road, the aqua-colored buoilding just south of the railroad tracks. Plastic barriers will be used instead of straw.

The karts will reach speeds in excess of 70 mph on the course. Admission is free to watch the racing. Visiting the pits requires the purchase of a pit pass, but bleacher seating is free. Practice starts at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. Opening ceremonies will begin at 11:30 a.m.

We will race several classes from junior to pro in various engine configurations. The racing will continue until about 5 p.m. for the Mayor’s Cup races on Saturday and for the first time this year there will be racing again on Sunday.
