Pendleton Heights student charged with possession of child pornography

PENDLETON — On the same day an Anderson High School student was arrested on alleged possession of child pornography, a Pendleton Heights High School student was arrested on suspicion of the same crime.

Police do not believe the two incidents are related.

Pendleton officers were called to Pendleton Heights on Tuesday afternoon by an official who said he received an anonymous email from someone claiming Jack House II, an 18-year-old student, had nude photos of an underage female student he was showing to classmates.

House was called into Assistant Principal Shuan Rose's office with Pendleton officers. According to the probable cause affidavit, House told police that he had received approximately 13 nude photos of the student from the girl's boyfriend a few months back. The female student, who is 15 according to the affidavit, told police she had sent the photos to her boyfriend, who was not identified.

Police said House was arrested in connection with possession of child pornography, a Level 6 felony, and was released from the Madison County Jail after posting bond Tuesday afternoon. The Madison County Prosecutor's Office has not yet reviewed the case.

Mark Hall, principal of Pendleton Heights High School, declined to comment Wednesday on specifics of the case.

He does not believe the pictures were taken or traded at school.

"This is obviously a huge concern with this generation of kids," Hall said.

If nothing else, he said, parents should be aware that their children could be sharing inappropriate images on cellphones.

South Madison Community Schools has a policy in which students who engage in illegal activity may be suspended or expelled from school.
