The Madison County prosecutor’s office has been given a 72-hour extension to file charges against an Anderson teenager arrested on a preliminary charge of rape.

Anderson police arrested Zachary T. Wolfe, 18, 2505 Highway Place, Anderson, at 10 a.m. Wednesday on a preliminary charge of rape, a Class B felony.

Wolfe is being held in the Madison County jail on a $20,000 bond.

If convicted on the rape charge he faces a possible 20-year-sentence.

During his initial court appearance on Thursday, Wolfe told Criminal Magistrate Stephen Clase that he is a senior at Highland High School.

Clase issued a no-contact order and Wolfe said the girl doesn’t attend the high school.

Wolfe cried during the hearing which was attended by family members.

According to a probable cause affidavit, the alleged victim told police that she had been out drinking with Wolfe’s sister and went to the Wolfe residence.

She said that she fell asleep in Wolfe’s sister’s bedroom and woke up during the night with Wolfe on top of her and having non-consensual intercourse with her.

The girl said that after Wolfe left the bedroom she called another friend who took her to Community Hospital.
