Marilyn Virginia (Davis) Wood, 78, of Anderson, passed away Aug. 6, 2012, at Saint John’s Medical Center after a brief illness.
She was born July 2, 1934, in Anderson, the daughter of the late Emmer “Jack” and Mildred (Mills) Davis. She graduated in 1953 from Anderson High School. She lived in California for seven years and lived the rest of her life in Anderson, where she was a cashier for Cook’s Market and PharMor Drugs.
She enjoyed being able to spend time with her granddaughters, great-grandchildren and her sisters.
Marilyn lovingly leaves behind her son, Michael Wood of Anderson; two granddaughters, Sally Wood (fiancé, Jesse Karasik) of Chicago and Savannah Weaver of Anderson; their mother and special friend, Vanessa Johnson of Alexandria; two great-grandchildren, Tyler Stevens and Elle Stevens; brother, Norman (wife, Marie) Davis of Leesburg, Fla.; sisters, Marie Dotson, Janice Parrish and Jean McSherry, all of Anderson; sister-in-law, Madonna Davis of Anderson; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Wood; and brothers, Kenny Davis, Don Davis and Clarence Davis.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Whiteman officiating. Burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Daleville.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
