THE VILLAGES, Fla. — Marvin L. Smith, 78, The Villages, Fla., passed away on Jan. 19, 2015, at Lane Purcell Hospice House in Sumterville, Fla., following a brief illness.
Marvin was born Sept. 3, 1936, in Anderson to Lee and Flossie (Hupp) Smith. Marvin lived in the Anderson-Alexandria area for most of his life, moving to Florida in 2002. He was a graduate of Anderson High School, Class of 1954. Marvin worked at various Ford dealerships in Madison County. He also owned and operated Smitty’s Furniture Restoration and Antique Shop in rural Alexandria, retiring in 2002. He served in the Indiana National Guard for nine and a half years. He enjoyed attending antique shows. Marvin’s friendly manner and warm smile will be fondly remembered and sadly missed.
He is survived by sons, Marshall (Marie) Smith, The Villages, Fla., and Dennis (Michelle) Smith, Bentonville, Ark.; daughters, Lisa (Max) Robison, Sheree (Leroy) Warner, both of The Villages; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1979, his mother in 2002 and his wife of 31 years, Patricia Smith, in 2013.
Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service for interment of cremains at 3 p.m. Saturday at Park View Cemetery, 1101 South Park Ave. (Indiana 9), Alexandria. The Rev. Paul Werling of the Vermillion Christian Church will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Cornerstone Hospice, 601 Casa Bella, The Villages, FL 32162.
