HARTFORD CITY — Robert O. Wells, 87, formerly of Elwood, died Dec. 21, 2005, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Hartford City.

He was born April 15, 1918, in Elwood, the son of Otto and Cecil (Weider) Wells. Robert married Pauline (Harbit) Wells on Oct. 23, 1937, and she died on Jan. 28, 2004. He had been the owner/operator of Bob’s Novelty Shop in Elwood for 50 years.

He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church of Elwood.

Survivors include two daughters, Arlene (Wells) Mitroff and Debbie (Wells) Patton, both of Lady Lake, Fla.; one son, Bill and wife Charlotte Wells of Hartford City; one sister, Ellen Minch of Williamston, Mich.; two brothers, Bennie and wife Roberta Wells of Elwood, and Jim and wife Beth Wells of Alexandria; six grandchildren, Cindy and husband Ben Hill of Brownsburg, Randy Mitroff of Indianapolis, Brandon Patton of Alexandria, Kyle and wife Peggy Patton of Alexandria, Mona Snider of Gaston and Debbie Turner of Matthews; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Bob Wells; son-in-law, Tom Mitroff; granddaughter, Vickie Miller; a great-granddaughter, Breanna Patton; and three brothers, Earl, Walter and Charles Wells.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Dunnichay Funeral Home in Elwood with the Rev. Matthew Miller officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Elwood.

Visitation will be one hour before service Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Baptist Church through the funeral home.
