The Citizens Against Government Waste congressional watchdog organization recently released ratings showing how federal legislators voted relative to wasteful spending during the second Session of the 110th Congress. The ratings are based on 48 bills in the House and 42 in the Senate that were categorized as “wasteful spending bills.”

Seventy percent of Republican votes in the House of Representatives were cast against these wasteful spending bills compared to only 6 percent against wasteful spending for Democrats.

In the Senate, 72 percent of Republican votes were cast against wasteful spending bills versus only 4 percent against wasteful spending for Democrats.

Rep. Mike Pence led our Hoosier House delegation with 98 percent of his votes cast against wasteful spending and Sen. Richard Lugar led our Senate delegation with 66 percent.

The really bad news is that 34 legislators (an increase of 1600 percent), never voted against wasteful spending and every one of the 34 was a Democrat. This list includes Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, Majority Whip James Clyburn, and House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Charles Rangel.

President Obama campaigned on a promise for change and is delivering just that! Unfortunately, the change is of a nature that it is leading to the rapid destruction of our country through a gigantic financial meltdown that is going to totally destroy the financial future of our children and grandchildren.

Taxpayers should beware of this situation and do everything possible to stop this group of irresponsible spendthrifts from destroying our nation.
