Philip T. Lawson, 66, lifetime resident of Anderson/New Castle, passed away May 19, 2007.

He was born Sept. 19, 1940, in New Castle, to Thomas Zode and Marie (Hunter) Lawson.

He was a graduate of Castle High School.

Phil retired from Delco Remy Plant 3 in 1993 after 30 years of service. He was a member of United Auto Workers Local 662.

He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather who loved spending time with his family. He was very involved in his family’s activities. He enjoyed fishing, NASCAR racing, fast-pitch softball (playing and watching) and was a sports enthusiast of all types.

Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Linda G. (Minton) Lawson of Anderson; daughters, Tammy (husband, Bob) Reed of Anderson and Jennifer Lawson (companion, Brad Swank) of Anderson; son, Philip T. (wife, Belinda) Lawson of Anderson; grandchildren, Leah Hofer, Shaun Hofer, Lindsey Neal, Philip Lawson and Jacob Reed, all of Anderson; great-granddaughter, Katilyn Fleetwood of Anderson; brothers, James R. (wife, Betty) Lawson of Muncie and William J. (wife, Annie) Lawson of Lafayette; sister, Rose Lee of New Castle; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. Also surviving are friends and caregivers at Renaissance Specialty Hospital in Muncie.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents; brothers; Thomas Lawson, Paul Lawson, Dwight Lawson and Larry Lawson; and sisters, Rita Loveless and Juanita Lockridge.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Macer-Hall Funeral Home, 600 S. Main St., New Castle, officiated by the Rev. David Perry. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery.

Friends may call from noon until 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
