Richard Grant Lawson, 63, Anderson, died May 7, 2007, at ManorCare, Anderson, after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

He was born Oct. 10, 1943, in Anderson, and was a lifelong Madison County resident.

Richard is survived by his daughter, Angela Marie Lawson and grandson, Jesse Ray Weed, 25; and daughter, Cynthia Nicole Howton of Carbondale, Ill., and grandchildren, Dustin Michael, 14, Jordan Nicholas, 12, and Emily Rose Howton, 7; sisters, Shirley Ann Smith of Charlotte, N.C., and Carrie Ketring Stewart of Little Rock, Ark.; constant companion pet, Tootie; nieces, Juli Dawn Ketring Bowling of Naples, Fla., Christy Lynn Stewart of Houston, Texas, and Holly Renee Coffman of Oak Harbor, Wash.; nephews, Mark Allen Vance of Charlotte, N.C., and Kevin James Coffman of Anderson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Owen and Mildred Mae (Richards) Lawson; wife, Rose Lanora; son, Donald Patrick Lawson; a sister, Judith Kay Coffman; and a nephew, Timothy Scott Ketring.

Cremation was chosen with no services or visitation.

In lieu of a memorial service and flowers, the family requests donations made to the American Cancer Society in the name of Richard Grant Lawson.

Arrangements entrusted to Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Lahm Chapel, 211 E. State St., Pendleton.
