ANDERSON — Highland’s boys and girls cross country teams came away with second- and third-place finishes, respectively, in the Olympic Conference meets held Tuesday at Mounds State Park.

The Scots boys team finished a strong second with 39 points, topped by D.J. Taylor, who won the race in a time of 16:51. Mason Webb placed third in the event for Highland. Both Taylor and Webb made the All-Conference Team by finishing in the top five. Muncie South was the team champ with 32 points.

The Highland girls team was third behind Jay County and Connersville. The Scots’ Haylei Banister placed ninth as the highest finisher for Highland.



Girls Soccer

Anderson 1, Muncie Burris 1

The Indians got a goal from Janelle Davis off an assist from Marissa Woschitz to get their first tie of the season.

AHS goalkeepers Jolynn Fricke and Hannah Harrison had seven and five saves, respectively. Anderson is 2-11-1 on the season.



Pendleton Heights 3, Mount Vernon 0

Kaitlin Wiles scored two goals and added an assist as the Arabians wrapped up the Hoosier Heritage Conference title with a win Monday night.

Braydan Wiles had a goal and an assist for PH. The Arabians finished with a 7-0 league record and are 12-1-2 overall.

Huntington 7, Anderson 2

Highland graduate Alex Hammel and Jessie Rigby won the first two singles matches but the Ravens couldn’t win any of the other matches to drop to 2-12 on the season.
