LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Jack Woods, 77, Las Vegas, passed away at his residence and went home to be with his Lord on Jan. 26, 2006, after a courageous one-year battle against prostate cancer.
He was born March 7, 1928, in Westport, the son of Matt and Ruby Woods. He was a former Anderson resident and had worked at the former Emge Packing Co.
Jack retired from RTD in Los Angeles as a bus driver after 17 1/2 years of service. Since retirement he worked part-time at World Mark in Las Vegas. Jack had a great love of travel and he and his wife, Helen, had visited all 50 states. He also enjoyed sports, especially baseball, and always rooted for “his Braves.”
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 37 1/2 years, Helen (Bousman) Woods, whom he married in August 1968; son, Jack (Pat) Woods Jr. of Alexandria; daughters, Tana (Dave) Granger of Frankton, Paula (Mel) Garrett of Anderson, and Tammy King of Westport; three stepchildren, Evelyn Russell of California, Roger Landis of Nevada and Melissa Armstrong of Virginia; 35 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Dick Woods of North Vernon, Tom Woods of Memphis, Tenn., and David Woods of California.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, Elvin, Donald, Bernard and Matt Woods.
Services were conducted Jan. 31 at Davis Funeral Home, Las Vegas, Nev.
